The Road Map
We're taking a tour of Europe (and a few other places). I say we, not I, because I want you to feel you're on this journey with me. We'll spend time in each location giving you a glimpse of what life is like for the locals, as well as stories of my favorite places, suggestions on places you "must-see", tips on travelling Europe alone as a female, legit reviews, and links to tickets for some fabulous "must do" adventures. We'll speak with locals, tourists, store owners, hotel and wait staff, and chefs/owners of my favorite restaurants, so we can really learn what it's like to live in and visit these magnificent places. Our itinerary will include Albania, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey and Wales. We'll also be venturing to Canada, Egypt and Morocco and who knows where else. Let the adventure begin!
A Little About Me
I'm from the beautiful coastal town of Naples, Florida, USA, a favorite destination for many travelers worldwide. As a fifth generation native, I've witnessed a lot of growth and I've often written about my personal experiences living in this sunny paradise. My published writings include books, newspaper articles, and blogs. I was a wife and mother literally right out of high school, then a very young, divorced mother, a second wife and (try-to-be) stepmom, super young grandmother and far too soon widow. My family has been my life. The years have passed, my work-life changed unexpectedly, and I find myself with a lot of time on my hands. I've always dreamed of traveling extensively. If not now, when?
How I Got Here
I've frequently quoted a phrase I found online: If traveling were free, you'd never see me again. I had really only been outside the US a few times, but when I went to Europe in December 2022, I felt more like myself than I did in my own apartment. I felt a kinship to the places I visited: Paris, Zurich, Amsterdam and Brussels, and a burning desire to return before I even unpacked my suitcase. I have decided to combine two of the things that make me the happiest, writing and traveling, sell everything that doesn't fit into a suitcase, grab my laptop and create an amazing and beautiful new life traveling Europe and writing about my experiences. And that's how A Broad in Europe was born.
